IN BRIEF: Greenpeace has congratulated Coles for jumping into the solar race with a 10-year deal to buy more than 70 per cent of power from three new solar farms in regional New South Wales.

The investment will provide around 10 per cent of the companyโ€™s energy needs, equivalent to powering 39,000 homes.

Greenpeace Australia Pacific Senior Campaigner, Lindsay Soutar said the deal shows companies are now leading the way on the transition to 100 per cent renewable energy.

โ€œSome of the worldโ€™s biggest companies, including supermarket chains Walmart and Tesco, have already made the commitment to 100 per cent renewable.

โ€œWe look forward to seeing Woolworths make similar commitments,โ€ she said.
