Mullum Creek homes will be built to a minimum 7.5-star NatHERS standard.

2 April 2014 โ€” Mullum Creek, a sustainable community development in Donvale, Melbourne, has sold over half of available blocks since launching in mid-2013.

The development dedicates 45 per cent of land to bushland and open space, with homes being built to a minimum 7.5-star NatHERS standard.

Developer Mullum said the strong interest suggested there were many Melbourne buyers willing to make lifestyle decisions to tread a more sustainable path.

Sales manager Adam Wright said environmental sustainability, high-quality architecture and rural appeal โ€“ thanks to an adjacent green wedge โ€“ combined to make a unique offering.

Architectural and environmental guidelines have been developed to encourage high-quality homes, and passive design principles will be implemented to take advantage of natural light.

Mullum is also offering a โ€œdesign and ESD incentives packageโ€ of up to $15,000 to encourage sustainable outcomes, $5000 of which can go towards environmentally sustainable design advice, an embodied energy assessment, an AccuRate assessment and/or a building inspection of ESD elements.

Mr Wright said buyers had predominately been โ€œdownsizersโ€ who wanted to reduce their environmental footprint.

Mullum Creek is being built over 20 hectares, with 56 sites ranging from 1000-3000 square metres.
