6 February 2014 โ€“ Mirvac launched its new sustainability strategy on January 30 with the theme, This Changes Everything.

Among the ambitious new targets are:

  • To be net positive by 2030 โ€“ โ€œgenerate more water and energy than we consume and finding ways to capture and reduce waste beyond that which we create
  • Create a framework for the future of place by 2015, that โ€œshould be adaptive so it seeks to

    predict future challenges but accepts that information and boundaries will change over timeโ€

  • The first smart portfolio by 2020 โ€“ designed to improve its own performance and ease of operation over its lifecycle
  • Water โ€“ reduce potable water by 15 per cent by 2018, increase water recatpure and recycling to 15 per cent by 2018
  • Waste โ€“ recycle 75 per cent of waste by 2018; zero waste by 2030; implement three closed loop recycling projects by 2018

    Energy โ€“ reduce carbon intensity by 20 per cent by 2018

  • Install 1 MW renewable energy by 2018
  • Materials โ€“ pre-qualify 50 per cent of the supply chain on their aligned sustainable practices by 2015; complete a life cycle assessment for all new projects starting June 2014
  • Lifestyle โ€“develop a sustainable lifestyle index for implementation by 2015
  • Create a โ€œOne Planet Livingโ€ community by 2018
  • Skills and training โ€“ educate 1 million people on sustainability by 2020
  • Technology โ€“ deliver our first smart building by 2018
  • Community investment โ€“ create a data capture system for measuring and montory community investment across the whole business by 2015
  • Social impact โ€“ develop and utilise SROI methodology
